About This Seminar

To understand how to write a successful press release, we will put ourselves in the mind of a journalist trying to decide whether several press releases are “worthy” to go into the news cycle. This webinar will be interactive, allowing attendees to score press releases on several criteria and to vote on the one that they would like to “publish.”

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify the factors that might turn a science paper into a science news story
  • Learn basic tips on how to write the best press release possible for research results

SPEAKER:

Isabel Mendoza-Poudereux, Communication Officer, Global Plant Council

A plant biologist and science communication researcher, Isabel Mendoza-Poudereux received her PhD in (Plant) Biotechnology in 2013. Since then, she has changed her career path into R&D management and science communication. She has participated in several research projects related to plant biotechnology and agriculture, from both a purely technical point of view and through the communication and dissemination of results.
