Hi everyone! I am Darwin Castillo, a passionate biologist interested in comprehending the molecular basis behind plants’ physiological mechanisms to cope with abiotic and biotic stress. I hope to generate knowledge worth of application in plant breeding through biotechnological approaches. In the last years, I have been researching the physiology and molecular biology of Cacao trees under drought and the new pathosystem Phytophthora betacei– Tree Tomato. In addition, I teach molecular biology (laboratory) to undergraduate students at Universidad de los Andes -Colombia-, where I am pursuing my master’s degree.
Besides research, I love visiting new places and shooting natural landscapes.
