Global Expert for Technology Acquisition with Syngenta’s External Collaborations and Adjacent Technologies group (ExCAT) based in Research Triangle Park, NC.  My role involves participation in developing the innovation strategies for our projects and programs.  As gaps in capabilities or capacities are identified in Syngenta’s R&D programs, my responsibility is to address these strategic needs by providing options to insure success of our programs through integrating external capabilities or capacity via collaboration, partnership or crowd sourcing.  My background includes 14 years of international experience where my roles included Director of a major research site, Head of multiple departments such as, Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology; Fungicide Biochemistry; Genomics and Bioinformatics; as well as, leading a large international public-private collaborative research program. Currently, I am serving as the President of the Board of Directors for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Research Foundation and a member of the Industrial Advisory Board for the Center for Innovation Management Studies at North Carolina State University.   In addition, the American Society of Plant Biologists awarded me their 2017 Innovation Prize for Agricultural Technology that recognizes the outstanding work of industry scientists who successfully translated discovery research into demonstrable real-world outcomes for the benefit of Global agriculture.
