I am a NSF postdoctoral fellow working with John McKay at Colorado State University. My postdoctoral fellowship, titled Using genotype and environment to predict water use physiology in rice, is funded by the NSF's National Plant Genome Initiative.
I'm originally from California, but have spent much of my academic career in colder, rainier places. Broadly, I'm interested in understanding how and why traits vary within a species, and in using that understanding to address real world problems (e.g. food production, species conservation). I integrate approaches from the fields of ecology, physiology, genetics, and evolutionary biology, and I work in the field, the greenhouse, the lab, and on high-performing computer clusters. I also enjoy science fiction, free-style botanizing, and hiking.
